Full Circle (1994)

Icehouse's remix album, Full Circle, is a fun and energetic take on some of their classic songs. The record features remixes of some of their most popular tracks, as well as a few lesser-known gems.

While not every remix on the record is a standout hit, the record as a whole is a fun and engaging listen. The remixes add new life to the classic Icehouse songs, with updated beats and modern production techniques. The songs are also not entirely deconstructed with nothing but electronic dance beats and a repetitive chorus. There was some genuine thought put into these tracks, and it shows.

The remix of Electric Blue stands out and is super fun, with a new dance beat and some additional electronic elements that give the track a fresh, modern feel. Same goes for the 16 minute long remix of Great Southern Land. An electronic epic to close out the album, enhancing upon all of the great atmosphere that makes the original so enjoyable.

I cannot forget to give a shout out to Yo, Micro Babe, which is the remix of Hey, Little Girl. This version was sung by a woman and it was a complete re-record as opposed to a DJ just disassembling the songs on his laptop.

Full Circle is a super fun novelty that will appeal to fans of electronic dance music and fans of Icehouse alike. While not every track is a hit, the album is a great showcase of the band's classic songs in a modern, remixed format.

Own it, Stream it, Forget about it?

If you can manage to find a physical copy of this record and enjoy remixes/electronica music then I’d say this is worth owning! If not, there is nothing wrong with streaming it, but I highly advise against skipping it.
